These questions go with the sermon from November 8th on Mark 10:1-12. Click the notes tab to the left to download a pdf of the questions.

1. How did the sermon on “Marriage” convict, encourage, or challenge you?

2. How should understanding that marriage is ultimately about God not man provide strength and a higher sense of purpose to the marriage covenant a husband and wife make before God, and to one another?

3. How does divorce lie about who God is?

4. Why is divorce so devastating to those who are getting divorced, children involved, church family, etc?  What about divorce makes it so difficult?  Use scripture, personal experiences, etc.

5. Suppose your best friend who claims to be a Christian comes to you and says, “I just don’t love my husband/wife anymore.  The feelings that were there early on in our marriage just aren’t there now and haven’t been there for a while.  How do you stay married to someone you just don’t love anymore?  I believe that God desires for me to be happy and to be honest I think we both would be happier if we just weren’t married any longer.  I know people at church might frown but I don’t know what else to do.  I am miserable.”  What would be your counsel to this friend?  Include scripture references with your counsel.
