1. We’ve spent the last five Sundays in a series called Running from Religion. Explain something that stood out or affected you from these stories in Mark.
2. Read Galatians 2:15-21. What does justification mean? What does the death of Christ have to do with our justification (verse 21)? How is this contrary to “religion”?
3. Read 2 Corinthians 5:16-21. What is the basis of our reconciliation to God (i.e. by whose righteousness are we made right with God)? Where does Paul say all this comes from (verse 18)? How is this contrary to “religion”?
4. Read Hebrews 10:19-25. What is the basis of our confidence before God? What has happened that allows us to draw near to God? How is this contrary to “religion”?
5. Explain some practical ways that “religion” gets in the way of the gospel’s work in our lives.
6. What specific things can we do to root out religion in our lives and be more rooted in the gospel?
