  • Series: A King and His Cross

These questions go with the sermon from Mark 15:16-32 preached on March 21st. Click the notes tab to the left to download a pdf of the questions.

1. How did this sermon convict, encourage, or challenge your walk with Christ?

2. The soldiers mocked Jesus by dressing him up as a King and acting like they were bowing down before Him. What difference does it make though if Jesus TRULY is the King? What would be the characteristics of a person's life that was submitted to King Jesus?

3. If Jesus is truly the King, then he is worthy of words of praise and adoration like "Hail, to the King of the Jews." These are words that the Romans would ascribe to Caesar because he was in their eyes worthy. How can we ascribe worth to Jesus through our words? How can we ascribe worth to Jesus in our actions? Are both necessary?

4. The onlookers and religious leaders saw Jesus as weak, because he did not save himself. They mocked him by saying, "He saved others; He cannot save himself." How did they miss the mission of Christ on the cross? In what ways, did the cross show us the power of Jesus? Read 1 Corinthians 1:18-31.

5. In the final verse, the religious leaders demand that Jesus perform a miracle by coming off the cross and they promise true faith if he can make this happen. However, Jesus had already given many signs and they had not yet believed. How would you respond these questions from a skeptic: 1) How can I believe in something I cannot see? 2) How can I believe in something that happened 2,000 years ago? What role does faith play in your answers?
