Boasting In the Cross

We can boast in many things—our jobs, our abilities, our families, our churches, even our good works. But Paul in Galatians 6:4 says this—"But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."
Boasting in the cross is something that Christians have done since Jesus first laid down his life there. Now of course we don't worship the cross. It had no magical powers. But it is the symbol of the great work of Jesus in suffering and death that would bring salvation to the nations.
We are only a month away from celebrating Easter as a church. So we will be singing two songs that will help us boast in the cross. It Was Finished Upon That Cross is a song by CityAlight that celebrates all that Christ accomplished for us on the cross. In the Cross of Christ We Stand is a Christ Fellowship original song that ties together Biblical images of the cross with our unwavering hope of the One who died there on the cross. Our prayer is that these two songs will help us prepare our hearts to boast in the cross as we celebrate Jesus' death and resurrection for us.
