Series Intro: Christ Fellowship has just begun a new series on Sunday mornings walking through the book of Exodus. The story of Exodus is a beautiful story of redemption where God redeems a people from the pit of slavery and redeems them to a life of worship and mission. Over the next few months, we wanted to have members of Christ Fellowship share their story of redemption. We pray that you find these stories encouraging as you aim to live a life redeemed for worship.

1. Tell us briefly about yourself.

I am currently in my second year as a graduate student at WKU.  Born and raised in Dallas, TX, I moved to Bowling Green from Birmingham, Alabama where I attended Samford University.

2. How did you first come to trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

Belief in the existence of God was never a challenge for me.  I grew up in the church where I was taught about God’s Holiness and my need for Christ.  However, my head knowledge of God still left me separated from Him.  In high school, I quickly became a slave to lust and self-image.  Although I felt guilt and consciousness of my shortcomings, I disguised myself in the leaves of Adam by keeping the “good kid” reputation.  Summer after sophomore year of college I served as a youth group camp leader.  The speaker spoke on Jesus’s words to His disciples to “come and see.”  The same offer they received to know Him intimately gripped my heart and broke me of sin.  Although a sinner, I have put my trust in Christ’s finished work on the Cross and I am forever reconciled to God. Christ has broken Satan’s hold on my life and I now live for the glory of God.

3. How has being a member of Christ Fellowship helped you grow in your love for Jesus?

I came to CFC from a whirlwind, previous few months that included a broken engagement.  The unconditional love I received from my CFC family reminded me to lean into Christ’s love for me on the cross; naturally, a deeper love for Christ resulted. I am continually pointed to the all the Jesus is for me through accountability partners, Wednesday night meetings, and Sunday’s worship service.

4. How has being a member of Christ Fellowship increased your love for the church?

When God plucked me out of my sin, He saved me into a “chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession” (1 Peter 2:9).  The CFC community has provided for me an opportunity to rejoice with others as God’s people. I also have grown in living out Christ’s commands “to love one another as [He] has loved you” (John 15:12).

5. How has being a member of Christ Fellowship help you live on mission for Christ?

Thankfully, Christ Fellowship is filled with like-minded people who desire to see peoples from every tribe, tongue, and nation represented in the ransomed Church of God.  The pastor’s support of efforts on Western’s campus has given me the freedom to know efforts on campus are an extension of CFC.  The church’s goal to meet the needs of the church’s neighborhood has encouraged me to plant my life among people we are called to serve.
