No man is an island. With this opening line from his famous poem, John Donne understood something that many today simple do not. He understood that no person can live in complete isolation from other people. It's not good. It's not healthy. It's not possible. We live in a culture where the individual is king. We celebrate the self-made man or women. We wave the banner of self-independence. Yet, for Christians this is a toxic idea. We have been saved to be part of the people of God. We are not independent of one another. We are all part of the body of Christ. Listen as pastor Jody Sledge challenges us to see that because we are a single body with many parts, we belong to one another, we need one another, and we should support one another.
