Satisfied.001

Psalm 34:8 calls us to "taste and see that the Lord is good." And Psalm 37:4 calls us to "delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart."

It's no secret that we all hunger and thirst for the things of this world. And it's no secret that the things of this world cannot make us truly happy. The hymn Satisfied is a beautiful declaration that Jesus alone can bring us true happiness and satisfaction in life. Written by Clara Tear Williams (1858-1937), this hymn points us to the only One who can satisfy our souls. This new tune was written by Lance Parrott and myself as we sought to bring new life to this beautiful hymn.

All my life I had a longing
For a drink from some clear spring
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I had within

Hallelujah, I have found him
Whom my soul so long has craved
Jesus satisfies my longing
Through his blood I now am saved

Feeding from the world around me
‘Til my strength was almost gone
Longed my soul for something better
Only still to hunger on

Poor I was and sought for riches
Something that would satisfy
But the things I gathered ‘round me
Only mocked my soul’s sad cry

Well of Water, ever springing
Bread of life so rich and free
Untold wealth that’s never failing
My Redeemer is to me
